Greetings from Norway!
Samie and I arrived a few hours ago. Very beautiful. Our taxi driver told us This is the Real Norway! We checked into our hotel then decided that we were hungry. We walked all over but nothing was open-- not even our hotel restaurant due to the fact that it is "Sunday." We found this very humorous. Finally we discovered that only ethnic restaurants were serving. Vietnamese was our choice and it was delicious. Tomorrow is another day-- Norwegian food then.

24 hrs in Reykjavik
Hello all,
We have been here in Reykjavik Iceland for nearly one day. It's a beautiful country and very clean. 300,000 people on the entire island. The weather is nice. Sunny today--high of 68* F. Warmer than we expected.
Our apartment is nice--we have a kitchenette so we found a10/11 (like 7/11at home) to stock up on supplies. We are going to the geothermal spa the Blue Lagoon tomorrow. That should be interesting.
The best thing of all is I feel good. Not too tired and able to walk around well enough. No hiking or spelunking this trip. Maybe next time.
Samir and I are enjoying our surroundings and each other so.

5 more days
Five more days til lift off. We are so excited and getting ready. My docs have given me the go ahead: have fun. I was not sure I would be able to go, but I was always hopeful. Having a positive attitude coupled with hope is also great medicine.
We want to try and see the little Icelanic horses. They have never been bred with other horses and have native to Iceland for hundreds of years. Imagine that!

I am the recipient of Cece's precious kidney--now 4 + months post transplant. My name is Lis aka Samie. I am very excited to go on this trip to Scandanavia with my daughter (also) Samie. The summer is flying by and as of today we only have 10 days until departure. We have been planning what clothing etc. we will take with us. It turns out that the weather at our destinations is much cooler than here in New England--even in the middle of Summer. In Iceland it is ~55*F and ~ 10 * F warmer in Norway and either raining or cloudy most of the time. But we will have 20 hours of daylight every day. We are going to have a wonderful time! More later...
